Two equal paths

Start with a brief or start with the directory

Some clients know the work. Some need to see what good looks like first. Both paths lead to the same thing: warmer conversations with freelancers who fit.

Post a brief

Start with the work, goals, budget, and timing. We shape the context so freelancers can understand the opportunity before an intro.

Browse first

Scan profiles, save strong fits, and only spend intro credits when you are ready to meet someone.

Warm introductions

Not a cold DM. Not a project marketplace.

You pick the freelancer or brief

Browse directly or start with a brief if you want help narrowing the shape of the work.

We check fit before connecting

The freelancer sees enough context to decide whether the intro is worth both sides' time.

You get an email connection

If both sides are in, we connect you by email so you can discuss scope, pricing, and next steps directly.

Browse before you buy

See real profiles before you spend a credit

Browse profiles, proof, service focus, and local context first. The paid part begins when you want an introduction, not when you want to understand your options.

Intro credits

Pay for the conversations that are worth having

Directory access stays free. Intro credits price the moment where we help turn interest into a warm, briefed connection.

Questions

What clients usually ask before buying intros

The short version: browse for free, pay for warm introductions, then work with the freelancer directly.

Do I need to post a job before browsing?

No. Browsing is first-class. You can explore the directory, save profiles, and come back when you are ready to request warm introductions.

What is free for clients?

You can browse the directory, save profiles, and draft a brief for free. Introductions and messaging start when you use intro credits.

Does Unicorn Factory take a project commission?

No. We charge for warm introductions, not a percentage of the project. You and the freelancer agree scope, pricing, contracts, and delivery directly.

What happens if an introduction is not a fit?

If we miss on the basics - no reply within 5 business days, wrong category, or the freelancer is not taking work - we refund the credit. Chemistry or scope mismatch is normal hiring, so we recommend comparing 2-3 freelancers.

Why not just use LinkedIn or a global marketplace?

You can, but you are doing more of the filtering yourself. Unicorn Factory keeps the search local, shows proof, and turns outreach into a warmer, briefed introduction.

What kind of freelancers can I find?

New Zealand freelancers across design, marketing, web development, writing, content, automation, photography, video, branding, and other creative or digital services.
